Description:SummaryThe Home Health Aide (HHA) Instructor is
responsible for teaching and training students in the skills and
knowledge required to provide essential care to patients in home
settings. This role includes delivering instruction on patient
care, safety protocols, and the compassionate support of elderly,
disabled, and chronically ill individuals. The Instructor designs
and delivers curriculum that prepares students for certification
exams and ensures they are ready to meet the demands of a career as
a Home Health Aide. The Instructor also supports hands-on training
and clinical skills development to ensure students are competent
and confident in their roles.Key Responsibilities:Instruction &
Curriculum Delivery:Deliver curriculum covering essential HHA
topics, such as patient care, infection control, vital signs
monitoring, nutrition, and personal hygiene.Provide lectures,
demonstrations, and hands-on practice in a classroom and lab
setting, ensuring students gain the necessary skills to provide
safe, high-quality care.Ensure course content aligns with
certification standards and complies with state regulations and
requirements for Home Health Aides.Hands-On Training & Lab
Supervision:Supervise and guide students during lab sessions and
simulations, allowing them to practice patient care techniques in a
controlled setting.Teach proper techniques for transferring
patients, assisting with mobility, and handling medical equipment
commonly used in home health settings.Provide feedback and coaching
on clinical skills, infection control procedures, and safety
protocols to build student confidence and competence.Clinical
Skills & Patient Care Development:Instruct students on essential
skills for patient interaction, including effective communication,
compassion, and cultural sensitivity.Teach students how to perform
routine tasks, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and assisting
patients with activities of daily living.Emphasize the importance
of observing and reporting changes in patient health and ensuring
compliance with HIPAA and other confidentiality
regulations.Certification Exam Preparation:Prepare students for HHA
certification exams by covering all relevant skills and knowledge
areas.Administer practice exams and conduct skills assessments to
evaluate students' readiness for certification.Provide guidance on
the certification process.Classroom Management & Student
Support:Create an inclusive, respectful, and engaging classroom
environment that promotes learning and skill-building.Offer support
to students, including one-on-one guidance and answering questions
about course material, clinical skills, and career
opportunities.Ensure that students adhere to attendance, conduct,
and safety policies within the classroom and lab settings.Promote
classroom decorum.Course Planning & Curriculum Development:Develop
lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessment tools that
meet accreditation standards and address the competencies required
for home health aides.Update course content and instructional
methods to reflect current best practices in home health care and
address emerging industry trends.Integrate a variety of teaching
methods, including hands-on activities, multimedia presentations,
and case studies, to accommodate different learning
styles.Evaluation & Progress Tracking:Assess student performance
through practical skills evaluations, quizzes, and exams, providing
constructive feedback to support improvement.Maintain accurate
records of student attendance, grades, and progress toward
certification.Communicate regularly with students on their academic
and practical performance, providing recommendations for additional
practice when needed.Compliance & Safety Protocols:Ensure students
adhere to safety standards, including proper use of personal
protective equipment (PPE), infection control procedures, and
emergency response protocols.Follow state and federal regulations,
including OSHA and HIPAA guidelines, within the classroom and
during clinical skills training.Ensure that all lab equipment and
training materials are properly maintained, sanitized, and used in
accordance with safety
standards.Requirements:Qualifications:Registered Nurse with current
NYS certification.Bachelor's degree preferredMinimum of 2 years of
experience as a Home Health nurse, or similar role in home.Prior
teaching or training experience preferred, especially in a health
care or vocational education setting.In-depth knowledge of home
health care practices, patient care protocols, and state
certification requirements.Strong communication and instructional
skills, with the ability to engage and motivate
students.Compassionate, patient-centered approach and a commitment
