Position Overview:Knovva Academy is seeking a Full-time Admissions
Consultant/Educational Consultant. The Educational Consultants
division of Knovva Academy is a boutique, personal, full-service
college application service offering customized school planning
solutions for students and families. At Knovva, our Consultants
help students explore their school and career options. Educational
Consultants assist students as they consider their priorities for
their educational experience, support students in researching
options, and ensure they complete all the necessary steps in the
college application process.
Responsibilities
- Consultations: Plans and implements with each student
one-on-one private meetings, which will be ongoing throughout the
application process.
- School selection: Helps match students with the ideal colleges
for them by utilizing an extensive knowledge of international and
U.S. colleges and using data-driven metrics.
- Essay support: Conducts with each student one-on-one sessions
involving multiple rounds of drafting and editing until all essays
are submission-ready.
- Interview practice and techniques: Conducts mock interviews and
discusses different interviewing styles and how to handle
them.
- Personal planning schedule: Helps families chart the course of
the application year, including meeting deadlines for standardized
tests, college application due dates, creating accounts on the
Common App, University of California, and UTexas portals, and
more.
- Flexible hours: Must be able to work flexible hours to
accommodate students from different time zones.
- Executive functioning: Strategizes ways to help students reach
their academic goals and potential. One part of this is GPA
management, which includes clear communication between the student,
parents, and counselor about where the student stands with their
grades and obtaining any support they may need along the way.
- Acts as a liaison between families, students, and schools. A
solid understanding of how U.S. schools operate and the hierarchies
inside of them is vital to success in this role.
- Familiarity with international students and colleges is also
necessary for this role.
- Be able to help students understand the strategies involved in
succeeding in school, on standardized testing, and in the
admissions process.Qualifications
- B.A. or M.Ed. in Education or a related field from an
accredited college or university
- Experience with the college counseling process and the
requirements to get into top schools
- Ability to help students write compelling essays by providing
technical writing or background information in the student's
subject area
- Experience teaching writing or working closely with editing
student essays is essential
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working in an international and multicultural
environment
- Extensive experience in the college admission process or
attendance at a high-level college or university with high
admissions standards
- Candidate must be located in the Boston/Massachusetts area and
willing to work in a hybrid model.
- Experience with international students preferred
- Experience with top-tier colleges and high schools (as a
student and/or as an educator) preferred
- Professional membership in NACAC and/or IECA is a plus.
- Experience with the admissions process for U.S. boarding
schools is a plus.
- Familiarity with College Planner Pro software is a plus. The
Educational Consultant is a full-time position. Salary is
competitive and commensurate with experience. Some travel is
currently expected. Must be authorized to work in the United
States; sponsorship is not being offered at this time. Knovva
