Job Purpose:
Provides operational support for import compliance, domestic
trucking and package services and order fulfillment to ensure
supplier compliance with organization, state, federal, and other
product regulatory requirements.
Job Summary:
Develops positive relationships with outside service providers,
including freight and external third-party auditing companies to
manage service level agreements. Ensures product suppliers are
compliant with established purchasing processes and regulatory
testing expectations as defined by applicable government standards
(e.g. CPSC, CPSIA, Prop 65, etc.) and has the communication skills
in order to convey said product standard expectations to suppliers.
Maintains version control of Supplier Compliance programs and
Letters of Agreements with emphasis on understanding and
maintaining standards, with experience in technical writing for
internal and external process manuals. Identifies import and
domestic compliance issues and coordinates and communicates with
external suppliers to ensure corrective actions. Coordinates and
manages payment processing for freight partners to ensure prompt
and accurate payment. Oversees monthly cost allocations for freight
and package suppliers; coordinates and manages journal entries for
cost allocations. Communicates and documents purchasing variances
including managing related chargebacks. Manages systems utilized
for purchase order presentation, freight loads, inbound shipments
and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) communications. Maintains
relationships with existing and identifies potential new freight
forwarders and service providers.
Essential Functions: Reviews transportation and distribution
systems and processes to ensure the efficient and economical
delivery of the BSA's products. Ensures products received are
compliant with BSA's established standards and adheres to BSA brand
integrity and product safety. Reviews and evaluates freight
classifications, tariff rates, and operating efficiency to ensure
the proper delivery of products and pricing schedules. Ensures
supplier routing expectations are following agreements. Review and
validate purchase orders. Collaborates with cross-functional teams
(e.g. Quality Assurance, Merchandising, and Inventory Control) to
achieve objectives.
Interacts with internal (e.g. Merchandising, Distribution, Order
Fulfillment, Quality Assurance, Inventory Control, Finance, Legal)
and external partners (e.g. channel distribution, freight
forwarders) at all levels on a variety of trade compliance and
logistics related activities. Provides compliant documentation to
support shipments. Creates invoices, packing lists, and related
documentation, as required. Manage reporting functions and
templates for cost allocations for freight payments. Meets budget
schedules for payment allocations and confirms prepaid values clear
department budget.
Maintains systems expectations and coordinates communications in
support of partner systems for purchase order presentation, LTL
freight loads, EDI messaging, MMS information validation and other
related efficiency gaining programming. Assists in development and
maintenance of processes to ensure compliance. Technical writing
skills for internal and external process manuals, creation of
process training materials and maintenance of current manuals and
instructions.
Coordinates and maintains freight routing expectations with carrier
and suppliers. Manages out of gauge shipment routing. Ensures
external transportation and logistics partners are compliant.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management,
Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field from an
accredited college or university. 9 or more years of experience in
import trade compliance, supplier compliance or product regulatory
control may be substituted in lieu of the required degree.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in - - - - -import trade
compliance. Must be proficient in using Microsoft Excel. Must
understand and have experience using Harmonized Tariff Schedule of
the United States (HTSUS) and Export Control Classification Number
(ECCN) to ensure accuracy of import and export documentation.
Knowledge of Import regulations, international trade compliance,
and transportation and logistics operations; customs procedures,
incoterms, and supply chain management principles; purchase order
presentation, LTL freight loads, EDI messaging, MMS information
validation and other related efficiency gaining programming;
Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) and Export
Control Classification Number (ECCN).
Skill in evaluating transportation options, identify cost-saving
opportunities, and resolve compliance issues; organization and time
management to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines; data
analysis and reporting to track performance metrics and identify
trends; communicating and collaborating effectively with internal
and external stakeholders; ensuring accurate documentation and
compliance with regulations.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with freight carriers
and suppliers; adapt to changing regulations and industry best
practices; work independently and as part of a team; effectively
manage multiple priorities and deadlines; utilize various software
applications and systems related to trade compliance and
logistics.
Must be able to commute to the work location in Charlotte, NC.
