Job Description:Role Summary/Purpose:The Senior Analyst, Data Sourcing - Metadata is responsible for ensuring the successful implementation, management, and optimization of metadata management processes within Synchrony's Public and Private cloud and on-prem environments within the Chief Data Office. The role requires a deep understanding of data sources, data lineage, and the ability to efficiently maintain and update data dictionaries.This position will involve working closely with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, and business stakeholders, to ensure seamless access to accurate, well-governed metadata for analytics and reporting.Our Way of WorkingWe're proud to offer you choice and flexibility. Occasionally you may be required to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as business or team meetings, training and culture events.Essential Responsibilities:
- Design and implement efficient metadata management processes across Synchrony's Public and Private cloud and on-prem environments, ensuring integration with technical and business Metadata catalogs.
- Collaborate with the Data Architecture and Data Usage teams to establish data lineage, traceability and compliance while proactively identifying and resolving metadata-related issues.
- Translate business needs into technical specifications, contribute to solution design, support agile development, and release cycles for metadata initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with data management policies, monitor KPIs for Metadata effectiveness and assess Metadata risks to strengthen governance.
- Maintain stable operations, troubleshoot data sourcing challenges, and implement process enhancements to improve data accessibility.
- Perform other duties and/or special projects as
assigned.Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree, OR in lieu of a degree, a high school
diploma/GED and 5+ years of progressive data related work
experience. Experience to include:
- 1+ year of experience in data management, focusing on metadata management, data governance, and data lineage, with proven experience in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and on-premise infrastructure.
- 1+ year of hands-on experience with data cataloging tools
(e.g., AWS Glue Data Catalog, AbInitio, Collibra), data lineage
tracking tools (e.g., Apache Atlas, AbInitio, Collibra), and
familiarity/exposure with data integration technologies (e.g., ETL,
APIs, data pipelines)Desired Characteristics:
- AWS certifications such as AWS Cloud practitioner, AWS Certified Data Analytics - Specialty or AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate
- Experience with hybrid cloud environments (combination of cloud and on-prem).
- Skilled in Ab Initio Metahub development and support including importers, extractors, Metadata Hub database extensions, technical lineage, QueryIT, Ab Initio graph development, Ab Initio Control center and Express IT
- Experience with harvesting technical lineage and lineage diagrams
- Unix, Linux, Stonebranch, and familiarity with database platforms such as Oracle and Hive
- Familiarity with SQL and data query languages for managing and retrieving metadata.
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks (e.g., EDM Council's DCAM, GDPR compliance).
- Familiarity with Collibra
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, strong
analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities, ability to work
independently and manage multiple projects, and strong attention to
detail.Grade/Level: 09The salary range for this position is
85,000.00 - 140,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual
bonus based on individual and company performance.Actual
compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based
upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.Salaries are
adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and
Seattle.Eligibility Requirements:
- You must be 18 years or older
- You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
- You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
- New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service
with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. -
Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the
associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before
they can post for future non-exempt roles. - Employees, level 8 or
greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they
can post. - All internal employees must consistently meet
performance expectations and have approval from your manager to
post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the
time in position or performance expectations).Legal authorization
